Who can participate in this training?
Through the end of 2017, anyone can register for the PPI TRAIN-the-TRAINER Course.
Beginning on 1 January, 2018, only a member/employee of an organization actively Implementing Practicing Perfection® as a Client of PPI will be allowed to attend.

What does “Train-the-Trainer” involve?
This is an intense learning experience involving three phases:
- Completion of Human Performance LEADERSHIP™
- Completion of the Human Performance MASTERS Program™
- Completion of Practicing Perfection® TRAIN-the-TRAINER
This is most often completed over the course of one five+ day (Sunday evening through Friday afternoon) live event:
- Sunday evening through Tuesday afternoon- Human Performance LEADERSHIP™
- Tuesday evening through Thursday morning- Human Performance MASTERS Program™
- Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon- Practicing Perfection® TRAIN-the-TRAINER
The Human Performance LEADERSHIP™ and Human Performance MASTERS Program™ can be completed ONLINE. The TRAIN-the-TRAINER session, however, requires your presence and participation at a live event.
The specific TRAIN-the-TRAINER curriculum includes psychology, strategies, and techniques for HOW to reach hearts, minds, and souls in the classroom.
You will learn HOW to achieve and maintain maximum student engagement, HOW to reach in and ‘inspire’ those in attendance, and HOW to properly deal with ‘difficult’ students and circumstances.
This is NOT textbook/college theory. The TRAIN-the-TRAINER sessions are taught by veteran PPI Master Facilitators, each having taught Practicing Perfection® to thousands of students over the past several years. You will receive frontline insights from those who are ‘out there doing it’.
Once you have acquired a foundation of understanding and self-awareness (as an instructor/facilitator), you will then walk through the entire Human Performance BASIC Training™ curriculum- the instruction, the exercises, the anecdotes.
You will be given a library of electronic files to use in your facilitation of Human Performance BASIC Training™, including step-by-step Instructor Guide, PowerPoint presentations, videos, and all associated Exercise Guides and templates.
Using the PPI materials provided as a starting point, you will then prepare and deliver a presentation on a chosen topic from the Human Performance BASIC Training™ curriculum. Your presentation will be electronically recorded for your subsequent viewing and self-critique. Immediately following your presentation, you will receive feedback from your classmates, and will be mentored by your PPI Master Facilitator(s).
The intent? Having provided you with the finest Performance Improvement classroom training materials available- to help you be the very best you can be as an INFLUENCER in the classroom.
Upon satisfactory completion of the TRAIN-the-TRAINER sessions, you will be given the opportunity to QUALIFY as a facilitator of Practicing Perfection®.
Once qualified, you will be awarded the professional designation of Practicing Perfection® Facilitator (PPF) by the Institute, and will be licensed to facilitate as many Human Performance BASIC Training™ sessions as you desire, within your organization, for two years.
The web page and Course Catalog indicate that upon successful completion of the training, I’ll be “eligible to qualify”. What does this mean?
Once you complete the PPI TRAIN-the-TRAINER Course, you will be eligible to qualify by observing and then facilitating a live Human Performance BASIC Training™ Course within your organization.
You must facilitate the entire Human Performance BASIC Training™ Course to the satisfaction of your designated PPI Mentor in order to become qualified and receive your license.
What does “Qualification” involve?
It is our intent and mission to help you be as effective as you can possibly be in the classroom. After all, if you’re only marginally effective as a facilitator, you’re only going to see marginal changes in behaviors…and marginal improvements in performance.
We intend for you to be AWESOME. The only way to do so is to evaluate your facilitation of an actual Human Performance BASIC Training™ Course within your organization after you’ve completed TRAIN-the-TRAINER.
This typically occurs in two steps. First, you observe/assist a PPI Master Facilitator in the conduct of a Course. Once you feel you’re ready, you then teach a subsequent Course under the watchful mentorship of your PPI Mentor.
Once you’ve taught the Course to the satisfaction of your PPI Mentor, you will be deemed QUALIFIED. You will receive your PPF designation, and will be granted a two-year license, authorizing you to facilitate the Human Performance BASIC Training™ Course within your organization.
Since our Client organizations tend to be selective about who they send to TRAIN-the-TRAINER, it typically only takes one session of teaching for you to qualify. However, there are no guarantees. If your PPI Mentor feels you need another ‘go’ before you get qualified, then that’s what will happen.
Who should attend PPI TRAIN-the-TRAINER?
If you were to ‘have the talk’ with Tim Autrey in consideration of working with PPI as a PPI Facilitator, he would tell you there are only two [absolute] requirements to do so.
First, you must have exceptional facilitation skills. Second, you must be passionate about wanting to make our world a better and safer place.
Exceptional facilitation skills involve art as much as science. They can, to an extent, be taught, refined, and developed. Over the past 13 years, we’ve seen otherwise shy and inhibited individuals blossom into fantastic Facilitators. They do so because they meet the second requirement at their core- they have passion to make our world a better and safer place.
We strongly suggest these be the folks you send to TRAIN-the-TRAINER- those having the PASSION, the DESIRE, and the ‘FIRE’ to serve and influence.
How long does it take to complete the Course?
The live event, including TRAIN-the-TRAINER, begins on Sunday evening and concludes the following Friday afternoon.
When utilizing the ONLINE versions of LEADERSHIP and the MASTERS Program, these courses evolve over 12 weeks, after which attendance for the final two days of the live event is mandatory.
Following completion of TRAIN-the-TRAINER, qualification is required to receive the PPF designation and your license to teach HU Basic Training™. This can occur in as few as two sessions- one to observe a live class taught by a PPI Master Facilitator, and a minimum of another full session in which to facilitate the Course.
What does the PPI License authorize me to do?
Once you have successfully qualified and received your license, you are authorized to facilitate Human Performance BASIC Training™ Courses within your organization for the subsequent two years. There is no limit to the number of Courses you may facilitate during the two-year period.
During your license period, you will have access to the PPI online library of up-to-date instructional materials and resources associated with Human Performance BASIC Training™. These are the same files used by PPI Master Facilitators when conducting onsite Courses for PPI Client organizations.
Once qualified, the license is good for two years. What happens after that?
Licenses can be renewed for a nominal fee by attending the PPI 5-day live event.
The fee is kept to a minimum; however, we require attendance at a live event because, quite honestly, a LOT changes in a two-year period. Your attendance ensure that you are fully up-to-date with the latest developments in Human Performance.
Having previously qualified, there is no requirement for you to re-qualify. Your new two-year license is issued directly upon completion of the live event.
How does PPI TRAIN-the-TRAINER certification fit into a Performance Improvement Implementation Scheme?
Having qualified/licensed Facilitators within your organization can greatly lower the overall cost of implementation.
A typical PPI Implementation Plan often begins with a Culture Profile, followed by work with the Leadership Team. Once Executive / Leadership Team sessions are complete, the Human Performance BASIC Training™ sessions begin.
Depending upon the size of your organization, numerous Human Performance BASIC Training™ sessions may be required. Being able to conduct these sessions “in house”, using members of your team who are licensed to facilitate, creates tremendous cost savings compared to PPI Facilitators providing all of the classroom instruction.
Are there Continuing Education Credits (CECs) or Professional Development Hours (PDHs) available for completion of TRAIN-the-TRAINER?
Successful completion of the TRAIN-the-TRAINER curriculum, including successful passing of associated exams (scores of 80% or greater) will result in the award of (30) Professional Development Hours (PDHs) by the Human Performance Association.
How much does it cost?
Standard tuition for completion of all training associated with PPI TRAIN-the-TRAINER is $6500.
Promotional, early-bird, and volume discounts are often available.
Human Performance Association members receive a 10% discount.
Are volume discounts available?
When an organization registers 3 or more individuals for TRAIN-the-TRAINER at the same time, a $500 per person discount is provided.
